Hyundai van conversion
Unlike other brands like Volkswagen or Mercedes, Hyundai has not been long established in the converted van market. Their range today is split across 3 models: H1, H350, and Staria. The latter has been available in some countries, including Germany, since 2021. Its arrival in France is expected in summer 2024.
The H1 and H350 models are only available in commercial versions. The Staria, with its futuristic design, is also available in a utility version. Hyundai has designed a conversion version of its Staria, the Lounge Camper, but it is currently only available for the Korean market. This new addition to the sector features technical innovations such as a touch interface for vehicle control. Additionally, the Hyundai Staria Lounge Camper comes with all the standard essentials for this type of van, including an electric pop-up roof, wardrobe, sink with 70L water reserve, 36L refrigerator, and a gas stove.
How much does the new Hyundai Staria Lounge Camper cost?
Currently, only the utility and minibus versions are available. Prices in Germany and Switzerland are listed from €41,800 and €56,150, respectively. For the converted Lounge Camper version, some articles suggest a price around €75,000.
In summary, what are the options with Hyundai?
As seen on our roads, the Korean brand is hardly present in the RV and converted van sector. No real conversions have been made for the French market for its H1 vehicle (only for South Korea, photo below). The same is true for its larger model, the H350. The only opportunity would be for the Staria to be imported not just in its utility and minibus versions but also in its converted Lounge Camper version. This is more likely in Germany than in France. So how can you travel with your Hyundai vehicle? Are there no accessible conversion solutions?

What is the best Hyundai converted van?
Combeing offers modular conversion kits at an affordable price (from €2,000 to €5,000 depending on finishes and accessories chosen) to convert all Hyundai utility vehicles (H1 - Satellite - Starex - H350 - Staria - i800) into converted vans. For this solution, expect to spend 5 to 10 minutes installing the kit in your vehicle. Once installed, the van is ready for travel and includes everything needed for adventure. Water corner, battery, composting toilet, table, bedding, or cooler are examples of accessories that can accompany the Combeing kit. One of the advantages is that this kit is also removable (also in 5 to 10 minutes) and tool-free, allowing you to maintain the utility aspect of the vehicle. In fact, our wooden modules easily attach to our floors using butterfly screws.
For the H1 and H350 vans, two kits are available:
- Sport kit features a "storage space" under the bed, providing practical storage for sports gear such as skis, surfboards, snowboards, etc.
- Homely kit offers additional modules for a substantial storage space inside the units.
For the Hyundai Staria, we do not yet know the vehicle's interior dimensions, but we are certain that we will be able to convert it since our system is modular and adaptable. In addition to the "Sport" and "Homely" kits, if they are not suitable, the following three solutions will be available:
- Smart kit includes an individual bed space (53x184cm) as well as a compartment for transporting a bicycle, a motorcycle, etc.
- Smart + kit with a double bed (105x184cm).
- Custom kit. The variety of floors we have and the modularity of our boxes will allow us to convert a Hyundai Staria without any problem.

Hyundai H350 converted by the German company Camperliebe
In 2017, the company Ginbie - Camperliebe chose the Korean brand for its new motorhome conversion. Surprisingly, they did not opt for brands more present in the caravan industry, such as Mercedes or Volkswagen. The reasons are: innovation, the size of the H350, its powerful diesel engine (170hp), and the low entry price. The German company then made modifications according to the rules of the art to offer a competitive and well-built vehicle. Features include a pop-up roof, swiveling seats, an equipped kitchen, and laminated finishes. To manage various electrical components (water, air conditioning, lighting, battery…), an 8-inch tablet is provided for easier use. To get this fully equipped van, €58,500 is required. A price lower than the competition for similar features. We’ll have to see how the vehicle ages and its depreciation when resold. For information, the company also offers conversions for personal vans. Expect to pay €29,500 for a conversion of your H350 van.
The small Hyundai H1 - i800 converted by Wellhouse
Few manufacturers or converters have tackled converting this vehicle, this minivan, into a "mobile home." Wellhouse, a UK-based company specializing in such transformations, decided to take up the challenge in 2011. They added a pop-up roof and converted the interior of this Hyundai van/minivan to compete with the reigning Caravelle and Marco Polo models. Despite a vehicle that's well-built, an unusual style, and numerous features (an equipped kitchen with oven, water corner, electricity, swiveling seats, multiple storage spaces, foldable table, etc.), the van has had very little presence in the French market. It even won the title of best minivan in its category at the Practical Motorhomes event when it was launched, ahead of the Volkswagen T5! This highly mobile vehicle is therefore an alternative to other vans, with a price around €42,000.
Hyundai H350 motorhome by ELEMENT Camper
Also in Germany, this company specializing in converting large utility vehicles into leisure vans has not forgotten the H350. They have converted several based on customer requests. Their expertise and experience allow them to offer leisure vehicles that could almost be classified as high-end. Whether inside the van or the conversion is well finished and functional with an equipped kitchen, and everything needed for travel, or outside the vehicle, nothing is left to chance. Similar to what the previous competitor (Camperliebe) offers for the interior, it stands out with its trendy exterior look. In fact, it adds attractive elements such as a specific color, better integration of the pop-up roof into the vehicle's original body, and solar panels on the roof for greater autonomy. Since there is no "standard" for this converted van and each customer configures their vehicle, it's difficult to set a price. According to articles found online and our research, prices seem to range from €62,000 to €72,000.

We made an appointment, Mathieu welcomed us warmly and showed us around the workshop, then we went to the selection area to recap and make the quote. We had all the necessary technical explanations as well as his advice and feedback. The guy is sincere and super professional.
