Our kitchen kit for van conversion features 2 gas burners. You will have a spacious cooking area to cook just like at home.
Everything you need for its operation is included in the kitchen kit:
- A camper van kitchen block
- A Campingaz regulator to connect to a butane gas bottle
- A hose with clips to attach to the stove burners and the gas regulator
You can cook a delicious meal after a great day of adventures, hiking, or travel.
Which Gas Bottle is Compatible with the Combeing Kitchen Unit?
Unlike camping gas cartridges, designed for small camping stoves (such as 220g isobutane or 227g butane cartridges), gas bottles offer greater autonomy and are refillable.
We recommend 2 gas bottles that fit perfectly in our kitchen unit for van:
- The refillable R901 bottle
- Or the R904, which offers more autonomy
These bottles are maintained and inspected by the Campingaz manufacturer. Simply exchange your empty bottle for a full one and pay the refill cost. These bottles are available in many stores across 120 countries worldwide.
Even though both volumes work well in our kitchen unit for van, we recommend the R901 as it is lighter, making the kitchen block easier to handle.
If you want more autonomy, you can opt for 2 R901 bottles, so you will have a backup bottle.
Indeed, when you run out of gas, it’s usually in the middle of cooking. Even with the largest bottle in the world, you ruin your last meal. So, with 2 smaller bottles rather than one large, you will never run out of fuel!
Do You Need to Change Your Registration to Comply with VASP Standards?
An undeniable advantage of the removable kitchen over a fixed installation is the ease of setup, which doesn’t require changes in terms of regulation.
As the entire gas system is contained within the kitchen unit, there is no need for VASP certification or modification of the vehicle registration.
However, when using a stove in a van conversion, there are some points to consider:
- Choose a kitchen block suitable for use in a closed space (we chose Dometic, the expert in camper accessories)
- Ensure the stability of the module (a butterfly screw locks the unit in place)
- Be able to close the gas supply when sleeping at night, it’s best to completely turn off the gas bottle
- Opt for a system with a thermocouple that ensures the flame is lit when gas is being released, otherwise it automatically shuts off the gas supply

Cook Outdoors When the Weather is Nice
How nice is it to be able to cook outside when the weather is nice?
Whether in a camper van, van, or van conversion, the smells from cooking certain foods can permeate mattresses and clothes.
So, an undeniable advantage of our removable kitchen is the ability to take it out anytime to cook outside.
Cook Inside When It Rains
In case of rain, you have two options to cook in your van:
- Cook inside your van conversion
- Or cook standing outside if you have a hatch to protect you from the rain
We personally prefer cooking inside the van, as depending on the wind change, you can quickly get wet, and cooking outside in bad weather becomes quite difficult.
Sink Kit for Your Van or Camper Van
We thought we had found the ultimate solution for cooking and doing dishes in a van: a combined unit with 2 gas burners and a sink for your van.
But we, as 5 users of the kit, all came to the same conclusion:
- The combined block is a great purchase, but difficult to use
- The sink is too small to be practical
- The water capacity is quite low
- But those 5 liters of water still add weight to the entire kitchen unit, which is a shame considering the main advantage of the unit: the removability
- It is inconvenient to constantly refill and empty the jerry cans under the sink
- Since the sink takes up half the kitchen unit, there's less space for the cooking burners, and it’s nice to have two large gas burners in a van
To solve this problem, we tested several solutions for camper van kitchens.
The chosen option is a large cooking surface with 2 gas burners that provide excellent cooking comfort.
Other Kitchens Available on the Market
Even though it’s removable, this kitchen unit is still bulky and heavy to transport with its integrated water tanks. It takes two people to handle the kitchen block.

We ordered our kit in September 2023 for our Opel Vivaro H1L2, we have used it well and made it profitable since. Received on a pallet with a very fast turnaround. A smooth and simple installation with several layout choices. We do not regret our investment. The materials after a year and a half are like new, you just have to take care of them. I recommend ??

We made an appointment, Mathieu welcomed us warmly and showed us around the workshop, then we went to the selection area to recap and make the quote. We had all the necessary technical explanations as well as his advice and feedback. The guy is sincere and super professional. Our choice validated, he helped us throughout the time needed to set up the modules. Again, lots of advice and tips, thanks to him. I thought the idea was absolutely brilliant on paper but it's even better in the van, the possibilities are endless, the quality is great, everything is thought out down to the smallest detail.
