The available solutions for sleeping when traveling with multiple people (3+ people) in a converted van?
Summary
A family van with 3 beds for two adults and one child
First, the first solution available is to sleep in the same bed using a Combeing kit.
If you are a family of 3 in a converted van, then all medium-sized utility vehicles will work (Renault Trafic, Fiat Talento, Opel Vivaro, Nissan NV300, Mercedes Vito, Volkswagen Transporter, Ford Custom, Citroën Jumpy, Fiat Scudo, Peugeot Expert, Toyota ProAce, Toyota Hiace, etc…), the larger vans (Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Man TGE, Mercedes Sprinter...) are also very suitable. Beds range from 131 cm, 158 cm, and in larger vans 184 cm in width and 184 cm in length, providing comfortable space and sufficient storage space to sleep 3 in a van conversion.

Here is the same plan, now with the "maxi bed" option (adding 26cm of mattress in length) available on our website. If you have a child, this is what the bedding would look like:
In the same type of van, here are the steps to switch from "day mode" to "night mode" simply by moving one module, also with the "maxi bed" option which adds 26cm of length to the bedding (the middle bed is a child’s bed):
Here’s a solution with 3 sleeping places but with 2 bikes added, pressed against the partition:

In other larger vehicles such as the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, and Citroën Jumper L2, the vehicle width allows you to sleep on 184 cm and have a permanent bed.
As shown in the next image, you can sleep 2 on one bed, leave space, and make your child sleep against the partition:

You can even lower some modules and make 2 double beds, thus sleeping with family of 2, 3 or 4 people in the converted van:

If your vehicle is not compatible with the compositions above (or if you want additional places with the kit), you can consider other solutions...
Selection of available solutions when you want a 4-bed converted van
In which model can we sleep 4 people without changing the vehicle registration? There are quite a few options. By combining the proposed solutions, it’s easy to sleep 4. You can design a conversion in the following types of vehicles:
Convert a long version utility vehicle with an extended cabin with 2-person sleeping space in the back (using the Combeing conversion kit) and one of the sleeping solutions below.

Convert a 9-seater van long version with a large bed behind the back bench of the first row and one of the sleeping solutions below.

Pop-top roof
Thanks to this pop-top roof solution, you can add one or two more people to sleep, this roof also allows you to stand up inside the van, expand the living space, and add additional sleeping areas (as mentioned earlier). The downside is that every time you hit the road, there’s a little disassembly time for the roof, which isn't needed with the next solution.

The price of a pop-top roof ranges from €7000 to €10000 depending on your vehicle model.

Raised roof
Raised roofs can be another solution when traveling with more than 2 people. Unlike the previous solution, the structure is fixed and does not move. Therefore, it’s much more practical with less setup compared to the pop-top roof. This will allow you to add additional sleeping spaces. The main downside is that with the height of vans, you'll need to be careful with height restrictions (you won’t be able to park in all parking lots).

The price of a van with a raised roof increases the cost by around €5000 to €10000.

Roof tent
Then there’s the roof tent solution for your van, which is also compatible with the purchase of our kit to travel with more than two travelers. The roof tent provides additional sleeping places in the same way as the previous two solutions. Moreover, the tent is not accessible from the inside of the van and significantly increases its size.

The price of a roof tent is around €5000. Its price depends on the quality, size, and model.

Ground tent
This solution is perhaps the most well-known: the ground tent. There are quite practical ground tents like the Quechua tents from Decathlon (such as the "2-second camping tent"), or tents with poles that accommodate more than 4 travelers. These ground tents provide additional bedding during your adventures with your Combeing van conversion.

The price of a ground tent is approximately one hundred euros.

Cabin bed
This solution is the cabin bed, a bed that is placed directly on the front bench of the vehicle (see photo). It’s primarily designed for children as the bed fits across the van’s width.

The price of a cabin bed is approximately €300.

Caravan
Another solution to meet the need for sleeping with more than 3 people is to have a caravan to tow behind your converted van.

This solution is quite expensive, for a new caravan, you’ll need to pay between €11,000 and €25,000.

Products and accessories when traveling with others
Our Combeing equipment offers a wide range of essential products for life in converted vans.
Dry toilet
For example, you have a "dry wc" module, here’s a tutorial showing you the simplicity of the product:
Dinette
You also have a "small kitchen" module, here’s a tutorial showing you the simplicity of the product:
These modules are fixed to our boxes or our technical floor. This allows you to add comfort with the Combeing kit when you need to use the toilet during your travels, or when you want to cook.
For accessories that can be easily carried in a van (without necessarily having a Combeing kit), we offer a small shower, cooler, battery, and many more...
We also offer drawers in our boxes (easy to assemble by hand) for storage of items in your "family van".
The advantage of the Combeing kit is that you can combine it with all the solutions we presented earlier to reach 4 sleeping places or more:
- Pop-top roof
- Raised roof
- Roof tent
- Ground tent
- Cabin bed
- Caravan

We bought a Combeing kit a few months ago for our VW T5 transporter and we are very satisfied with it! Delivery was free and fast. Customer service is top notch, whether for information or responsiveness. The kits are adaptable to your type of vehicle but also to your use whether it is road mode, night mode or day mode (with table). Very good value for money. We highly recommend. And a big thank you to Mathieu for sending goodies!!

A great team, a high-quality product, a very competitive price. We sold our converted van because our annual usage time did not justify such an expensive investment. We bought a utility vehicle that we converted to our taste with the possibility of modifying its configuration according to our needs following the many very professional tips received from COMBEING. The team took the time to welcome us into the company and to assemble our modules in order to have a tailor-made layout with everything necessary to live independently: gas, water point, electricity, toilet, solar panel, shower... In short, everything necessary to live pleasant moments according to our desires without having to have our vehicle approved in VASP. Thanks again to the whole team for their welcome, their availability and their professionalism which really deserve to be highlighted

Really great, the team is really cool, the products sold (sports kit for VW T6 for me) are really great (but I didn't doubt that, I had already planned everything thanks to their website, but with their advice I made some changes that suit me better). I also did the sprayed cork insulation before going to get my kit, super simple and beautiful rendering. I really recommend more than ever. Thank you and good luck in your new premises.

I was looking for a van that could be used as a daily, utility or leisure vehicle and with the Combeing Full kit, I found exactly what I wanted for my L1H1 van. I spoke several times with Mathieu and Raphaël, their listening, their responsiveness and their availability as well as their advice and services were very valuable in guiding me in my choices... In short, very well-made kits, easy and quick to set up, as well as a great team mean that I highly recommend this friendly company...

We made an appointment, Mathieu welcomed us warmly and showed us around the workshop, then we went to the selection area to recap and make the quote. We had all the necessary technical explanations as well as his advice and feedback. The guy is sincere and super professional. Our choice validated, he helped us throughout the time needed to set up the modules. Again, lots of advice and tips, thanks to him. I thought the idea was absolutely brilliant on paper but it's even better in the van, the possibilities are endless, the quality is great, everything is thought out down to the smallest detail. In the end, it confirms that with my 1m70 we can sleep across without any problem and therefore keep the table in place during the night. Conclusion: we are satisfied beyond our expectations. Thank you COMBEING, thank you to the brilliant inventor and thank you Mathieu for your advice
